Consultancy & Training for Schools

Practical support for schools and education settings

At House of Orkney Education, I offer consultancy and training for schools and education providers who want to strengthen teaching practice, inclusion and support for children with additional needs.

With over 19 years of experience in primary education, including senior leadership and Head of School roles, my work focuses on practical strategies that genuinely improve learning experiences for children.

Training is grounded in classroom practice, evidence-informed approaches and a deep understanding of how children learn best.

Tailored support that fits your setting

Every school is different. Consultancy and training are carefully designed to reflect the needs of your staff, learners and community.

Support may include:

• Staff training and professional development
• Early reading and phonics development
• Inclusive and trauma-informed classroom practice
• SEND support and alternative approaches to learning
• Curriculum and provision design
• Reviewing and strengthening intervention programmes

Sessions are collaborative, practical and focused on strategies that can be realistically implemented in busy school environments.

Flexible delivery

Training and consultancy can be delivered:

• In person within your setting
• Online for flexible access

This allows support to work around staff availability and school schedules.

Support for Educators Building Something New

Guidance for educators creating alternative pathways

Alongside consultancy for schools, I also support educators who are exploring new ways of working outside traditional school structures.

Many experienced teachers are beginning to create tutoring businesses, learning hubs, alternative provision or small education projects of their own.

Having built House of Orkney Education from the ground up, I understand both the opportunities and challenges of creating education work beyond the classroom.

Support may include

• Starting a tutoring business or learning hub
• Designing small-group learning provision
• Exploring alternative education models
• Building sustainable, values-led education work
• Developing services that support children differently

This support is particularly suited to experienced educators who want to continue making a meaningful impact while creating a more flexible and sustainable professional path.

Strategy sessions and consultancy

Support is available through:

• One-to-one strategy sessions
• Consultancy for new education projects
• Training and workshops for educator groups

If you are exploring a new direction in education, I would be happy to support you.
